Se documentan los primeros registros de Histiotus macrotus en la provincia de Chubut, Patagonia argentina. Desde noviembre de 2008 hasta febrero de 2009 se colectaron 24 ejemplares en dos localidades del noroeste chubutense: Ea. El Principio (42° 59′ 27″ S, 71° 24′ 60″ O) y Escuela de Idioma Galés «Ysgol Gymaraeg yr Andes» (43° 05′ 56″ S, 71° 28′ 26″ O). De esta manera, se amplía la distribución geográfica de la especie 200 km hacia al sur y se reportan datos sobre sus hábitos alimenticios.

The first records of Histiotus macrotus (Chiroptera, Vespertilionidae) for Chubut Province, Argentina. The first records of Histiotus macrotus for Chubut Province, Argentinean Patagonia are reported here. Since November 2008 until February 2009, 24 specimens were collected in two localities in the northwest of Chubut: Ea. El Principio (42° 59′ 27″ S, 71° 24′ 60″ W) and School of Welsh Language “Ysgol Gymaraeg yr Andes” (43° 05′ 56″ S, 71° 28′ 26″ W). The geographic distribution of the species is extended 200 km south; additional information on its dietary habits is also reported.
