Los murciélagos de bonete, género Eumops, presentan una amplia distribución geográfica en América; sin embargo, la escasa cantidad de colectas hace que este grupo no sea bien conocido tanto en la sistemática como en la distribución geográfica de sus formas. En el Perú están representados por siete especies; no obstante, recientes estudios en las Yungas del departamento de Cusco, sureste del Perú, revelaron hallazgos novedosos para este género, dentro de los cuales destaca el primer registro de E. patagonicus para el Perú y una nueva localidad de registro para E. hansae.

First occurrence of Eumops patagonicus (Chiroptera: Molossidae) and range expansion of the geographic distribution of E. hansae, in Peru. The bonneted bats, genus Eumops, have a broad geographic distribution in America; however the few records of this group have hindered a good knowledge of their systematics and the geographic distribution of its species. The genus Eumops in Peru is represented by seven species; nevertheless, recent studies in the Yungas of Cusco department, south of Peru, reveal new distributional findings for this genus, among those we have a first record of E. patagonicus in Peru and a new locality of record for E. hansae.
